I’ve developed a fun way of teaching literacy with toys at  our house! If you have toddlers or young children and you are looking for a way to add some educational activities to your home, check out what I’ve done! Pssst: there’s a video too:)
As you know, I’m a mom of two boy/girl toddlers. Needless to say, we have a TON OF TOYS in our playroom. The teacher in me is always looking for a way to expose my children to educational activities that they enjoy. This toy organization system in our playroom joins independent play and literacy. What is literacy? Well, in short, literacy is being able to read, write, and communicate in a language. As you will see in the video, my goal is not to have toddlers that can read. But, my goal is to expose them to cues and symbols that are directly related to their future success with reading. Where did you find those labels? I have been using this system for awhile but need labels. Thanks in advance.
Hi! I actually found these labels at Target right near the canvas box section (the canvas boxes for kids). Hope that helps!! XO
Great idea, I think this will be tonight’s project and it will teach literacy/organization to my two little ones!
That’s a really good idea. We moved into this house a little over a year ago, and I’ve reorganized the playroom at least 4 times (not “pick up four times.” I wish. Like drag everything out, sort through it, try a new system, etc.) It ridiculous. Obviously what I’m doing isn’t working. Honestly, right now I’m tempted to label everything “trash” and make a craft room for myself instead! 🙂
