Lavender Soap Jellies

Soap jellies bounce and jiggle all while cleaning your skin. Have a favorite liquid soap, try using that! Today we used a deliciously smelling (and calming) lavender body wash. The Homemade Jelly Soap recipe I’m sharing today can either be used for hand soap or body wash.

We don’t have issues with these soaps melting at room temperature but if your home is hot (or it’s the summer when you make them) you may want to keep your excess soaps in the fridge. If your soaps are sticking to each other in the jar, you can try a light coating of cornstarch. (Some readers have said they have individually wrapped each soap in plastic wrap, too.)

Instructions:

Lavender soap jellies wash away bacteria and moisturize all at the same time. Squeeze them, squish them, or watch them gently wobble. There’s no wrong way to use soap jellies! These would be fun to make for a craft night, a sleepover, or as gifts.

What I love most is how great these little wiggly lavender soap jellies smell. Not a fan of lavender? That’s ok! Use whatever kind of fragrance you love. I think it would be fun to make pumpkin-spiced scented soap jellies in the fall.

Tip

You can make these soaps in bars by pouring into a casserole dish and cutting them into squares, or shapes using the method described in this post.

  • Mixing spoons
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Ice tray

  • 1 packet gelatin (found in the baking aisle at the grocery store)
  • â…” cup hot water
  • ½ cup lavender-scented liquid soap. We used this lavender body wash by Dial

Instructions

  • Add 2/3 cup of boiling hot water to a mixing bowl
  • Add the packet of gelatin and stir until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved
  • Pour in 1/2 cup of lavender scented liquid soap and stir until the ingredients are completely combined
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray
  • Let it set for 3 hours until firm (or 1.5 hours in the refrigerator for quicker results)
  • Use with water on hands or body, depending on the type of liquid soap chosen
  • Just like regular Jello, these jellies will melt if they are left out of the refrigerator. So, we recommend keeping them chilled:)

  1. How adorable are these? I made a batch earlier today and just turned them out. My grandchildren will love them! I’m curious if they need to be refrigerated? ie: will they melt under normal house temperatures like regular jello? Such a wonderful project – I have some Mickey Mouse silicon molds and think the grandchildren will have a blast helping me make Disney style molds. Thank you for sharing!

    1. You are absolutely correct! It’s best to keep them chilled so they don’t melt like regular Jello would:) I’ve updated my post to point that out!
