Halloween Ideas: DIY Notepads

Written and photographed by Meredith of Wait ‘Til Your Father Gets Home

Eek! It’s my first time contributing for Kelly, and I’m super excited to share with all of you today a simple and oh so cute Halloween inspired craft. If there is one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I’m a total list maker. I’m talking pen and paper, old school, list maker. Don’t get me wrong…I adore my iPhone, but there is just something exhilarating to me about physically crossing things off a written list.

To make a set of Halloween notepads for yourself, you’ll need a few items such as blank legal pads {I got the smallest size I could find}, pretty scrapbook paper, coordinating embellishments, Mod Podge, and a glue gun.

This is a super easy and fairly quick project to make. Simply cut the scrapbook paper to fit the size of the back of each notepad and leave enough paper lengthwise to fold over the front tab at the top. Use a thin coat of Mod Podge to secure the paper {pretty side facing out of course} to the back of each notepad. Fold and use Mod Podge over the top tab as well.

Once your notepads are all covered, gather some cute, coordinating embellishments such as buttons, twine, ric rac, and other decorative trims to fancy up each one. I used hot glue to secure each embellishment to the top of each pad.

And there you have it! These notepads are perfect for jotting down all those Halloween costume, party, and trick-or-treat details you’ll be planning out this month!

  3. Thanks so much for having me over today kelly! LOVE how my notepads turned out! I actually just made a grocery list on one of them for later today 🙂

  4. I’m laughing so hard because I love writing things down on a list for that feeling of crossing things off (hopefully!). I make sure I don’t put on the list things that I can’t get crossed off.
