How to Make Boogie Wipes

Summer is wrapping up and kids are getting prepared for another successful (and busy!) year of school. Along with a new school year, comes new germs and new cold viruses. Avoiding a cold is nearly impossible as a child. That’s how we build up our immunities and become strong adults! Nobody said getting a cold was fun or easy though. Fighting off the germs is no joke. Your nose might be running non-stop and tissues (combined with the cold, dry weather of the winter and fall) can leave your nose feeling very irritated! That’s why we make DIY Boogie Wipes! They are a homemade grape smelling solution to soothe your runny nose when you have a cold. They cost a fraction of the price compared to the real Boogie Wipes to make at home too.

To make Homemade Boogie Wipes, you will need:

  • A container with a lid to store the wipes in
  • 1 package of baby wipes (you could use the plastic container to store them in!)
  • Mixing bowl and mixing spoon
  • 2 tablespoons of baby oil
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of aloe gel – fragrance free, if possible.
  • 2 cups of hot water – not boiling, just hot.
  • 3-4 drops of skin safe grape fragrance oil (found here on Amazon)

Directions:

  1. Combine the baby oil, salt, and aloe with the warm water.
  2. Stir until completely combined. The warm water helps dissolve the aloe.
  3. Place about 3 or so drops of the grape fragrance oil into the solution (use more or less as desired, it’s up to you!)
  4. Place the baby wipes into a container (cut to size if needed).
  5. Gently pour the solution over the wipes.
  6. Let cool.
  7. Use to wipe a runny irritated nose when you have a cold.

The salt helps remove the mucus in your nose (ew, but that’s why we love Boogie Wipes!). The baby oil and the aloe help soothe and moisturize your skin, which is way better than using a plain dry wipe! The baby wipes are extra soft so they are good to use on runny noses that are needing extra tissues. The grape fragrance oil reminds us of the way the name brand Boogie Wipes smell (but these DIY Boogie Wipes cost WAY less!).

We hope you and your kiddos aren’t hit with too many colds this flu and cold season! They are no fun:( There is something fun and special about Boogie Wipes though. Who knew a soft grape smelling nose wipe could lift your child’s spirits when they’re feeling sick? Fill up a bowl of chicken noodle soup, grab a pillow and a blanket, and relax on the couch for the day.
