DIY Lavender Laundry Sponges

Lavender Laundry Sponges

Earlier this month we visited Europe. I noticed that in both France and Italy, lavender was kind of a big deal. I’ve always loved lavender (particularly French lavender), and it was so beautiful to see it all over the place. It was used in handmade soap, linen sprays, perfumes, oils, and even incorporated into food.

Dried lavender in France

I was so in love with all of the lavender growing in Italy and the lavender used in products at a Farmer’s Market in France, that I decided to make something of my own. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the gorgeous buildings and rolling hills. Tuscany looks just like it does in the movies. I wonder what was behind this beautiful blue door.

Instructions:

To use a lavender laundry sponge, pull a sponge out of the mixture and squeeze out the excess. Place the wet sponge in the dryer with wet clothes, and the fabric softener will do the rest! It uses a smaller amount of liquid fabric softener than if you were to dump a cap full into the wash cycle.

    1. I’m going to tweak this idea by soaking rags in a solution of vinegar/essential oils. I’ll probably use lavendar for bedsheets and maybe something like vanilla or sweet orange for everything else.

      1. For anyone interested, vinegar is a natural fabric softener. Works in the wash/ rinse as well as in the dryer =)

    1. Downey has a lavendar and vanilla version that is my fav. It’s more expensive, but this DIY will definitely save some money.
