Grab ‘n Go S’mores
Warm spring and summer nights are perfect for roasting marshmallows and creating the perfect s’mores layered on a skewer over an open fire. Ahhhhhh, I can smell the irresistible scent of a melted marshmallow right now! Whether you’re camping, having a bonfire at the beach, or just hanging out in your backyard, everybody loves making s’mores, right?
Today’s activity goes out to all of the s’more lovers, especially the little ones! If holding something over an open fire isn’t something your little one can do, don’t worry! My kids can’t quite do that yet either. But, we don’t need to leave them out of the fun! The best part is that, with these Grab ‘n Go S’mores, kids (or adults) can enjoy the yumminess of a s’more any time of day:
Not only are these an easy grab ‘n go snack, they make a fun after practice treat idea too (so keep that in mind when it’s your turn to be the snack mom!). To make a Grab ‘n Go S’more, you will need:
- Horizon Brand Honey Snack Grahams (they’re the perfect size!)
- Plastic Zipzicle packages (found here)
- Mini marshmallows
- Mini chocolate chips
My son and I assembled them while my daughter was in preschool. I love having one-on-one time with him!
I laid out the various ingredients and explained that we were going to make a pattern. On the table, I showed hime how to organize a line of Horizon Snack Grahams, mini chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows. Then, I showed him how I repeated the same pattern to make the line longer. Then, I demonstrated how to take the line of patterned ingredients and drop them into the sealable bags!
Preschool kids adore making patterns!
Such a great and calm way to keep his little hands busy! Of course, we couldn’t help but snack a little bit while we were working:)
These tasty lil’ honey Snack Grahams are great for tiny hands of toddlers. I love that they’re made with organic wheat and whole grains! If it’s a super hot day, keep the Grab ‘n Go S’mores in a cool place (like a refrigerator or ice chest). All kids, and adults for that matter, don’t need much of an excuse to have a mid-day S’more! No fire needed!
