  1. I have a question; I made this recipe for party favors and put them in glass jars a day ago and looking today its hardened up into one large clump, do you have an idea of how to fix that? The party is in a few days and I’m panicking on how to fix 45 jars of scrub… Help please?!?

Btw this does smell amazing and when i used it the day I made it my hands had never been softer! Thank you

    1. Wow! I’m going to say that I’ve never made it in 45 separate jars, BUT I believe if you add some additional coconut oil (in the warm liquid form) that it would soften it up. Too much oil is better than not enough! Doesn’t it smell amazing?!! I wish we lived closer, I’d run over and help you! Keep me posted:)

      1. Thank you, I will definitely try that! I appreciate the help offer but I am going to recruit my sister 🙂

Also, I meant to ask you about the font you used – I am in love with it!

  2. I just made this tonight using Trader Joes Organic Coconut Oil and it doesnt smell like Coconut at all. I also used my Vitamix to blend the oats into powder form. I added alot more sugar (both white and brown) to try to achieve the texture in the picture and Im still not quite there. Not a fan of the smell of this particular brand of coconut oil.. .tried adding vanilla but this didnt help.

    1. Yea Rebecca, maybe it is the brand of your coconut oil. The kind I use smells divine. It’s kind of a no-fail scrub, so simply add the ingredients that cause the consistency of the scrub to look and feel like you want. XO!

  3. Just made this as part of a teacher’s Valentine gift… the “cookie” part inspired an idea. 😀 Thanks for sharing! I do plan on blogging about the gift in my next post and definitely will be linking to your recipe. Just had a couple of questions… do you just store this at room temperature and how long is it good for (as in does it expire)? Oh.. and if I understand your reply to the last commenter correctly, you didn’t make your oatmeal into powder form like the instructions say? If so, then is powder form optional?

  4. I have organic coconut oil but it doesn’t smell like coconut. Did I get something wring? Also do you put the raw oats in a blender to “powder” them? Thanks!

    1. I didn’t put any of the oats in the blender for this particular recipe. I’m not positive what organic coconut oil smells like, but the kind I used was not organic and it definitely leaves a gentle and yummy coconut smell. Hope that helps! This is a no-fail scrub, so if you really want to achieve that coconut smell, simply add some more of the oil and see if that helps. XO!

    1. I actually didn’t use anything but plain oatmeal for this fun scrub. It’s really easy! Hope that helps:) Thanks for stopping by! XO

  5. This looks like something that I would use on top of my oatmeal. All the ingredients are easy and inexpensive. Thanks for the recipe.

  10. I used organic coconut oil. I must’ve done something wrong because my scrub does not look like yours.

  11. Just wanted to say I featured your yummy looking scrub tonight on Super Sweet Saturday at swtboutique.blogspot.com
Thanks for the great link up.

  13. How did I miss this before, so glad Shaken together featured it! We do scrubs every year during the holidays with my girls. Then we get fresh scrubs, and a little girl time together. Pinned!

  14. I was wondering if another type of oil could be used instead of coconut? I’m not a fan of coconut smell 🙁

    1. Absolutely Amanda! I hear Olive Oil is great too. If you try it with a different oil, let me know how it goes! XOXO, Kelly

  15. I would then take out a spoon and EAT IT!! YUM!!

Thanks so much for sharing this at TheDIYDreamer.com – From Dream To Reality!

    1. Hi! Theses are jars that I have leftover from other products (products that I usually buy on Etsy). I’m sort of a jar hoarder. If it’s cute, I keep it! Hehe:) But, you are right, this would make a GREAT gift!!!!

  16. Love this idea! Sorry if you already answered this question, but how long do you think it will last?

  19. This could totally be dangersous because I bet the smell makes you want to eat it 😉 This would make an awesome gift.

  20. Ack! I love love LOVE this! I’ve been washing my face with just ground oatmeal for a while now, subbing in baking soda now and then. This dresses my operation up A LOT and would be a great gift! I wonder, how does it do on Oily skin? If you have a minute, I’d love for you to link up to Sweet Sharing Monday – https://saynotsweetanne.com/2012/sweet-sharing-monday-27/

  21. I agree with Meredith – I think I would want to eat it too! LOL It looks amazing though. I want to try it! Thanks for linking up to the Pomp Party! Hope to see you back next week!

    1. Coconut oil can be found in the cooking aisle near the oils, but the most common one (LouAnn’s) is in non-clear white container with a blue label and black lid. Not on the same shelves as the oils, but nearby. Hope that helps! It’s also sold in a lot of health food stores and such, but usually in a different container because it’s solid not liquid at room temp.

  22. I must have issues because I would just want to eat this! Looks tasty & exfoliating 🙂

  23. This sounds AMAZING!! I have been wanting to make a body scrub for Christmas gifts but everything seemed overdone. THIS however is definitely a refreshing idea and I’m going to have to give it a try! Thank you for sharing!!!
