you could also use freezer paper rather than having to piece together wax & regular paper since one side of freezer paper is waxed 🙂

The moisture in the fridge will ‘melt’ the candy dots an airtight container would be a better choice – and yes you could use powdered egg whites, in fact it would be safer as they are pasteurized.

I was just wondering if you could email me the recipe for these? I only have my cell phone to get online with and for some reason its not bringing up the recipe. They look good and I loved eating them as a child so I think my boys would have a lot of fun making them, especially being something I liked so much when I was younger 🙂 Thanks, Amber

Do the buttons in finished form need to be stored in the fridge for safety or can they be stored in an airtight container? Could you substitute egg white powder and water for fresh egg whites to eliminate the need for refrigeration?
