Back-to-School Clothes

There is no way that I’m the only one that actually enjoys back-to-school shopping, right? The new folders, the super sharp pencils, the sparkly new shoes!! It makes me giddy! We recently did some back-to-school shopping and we wanted to share our styles with those of you looking for a little fun inspiration. Stella is happily modeling her “kindergarten looks” and, well, I wish they had these cute clothes in my size!

First up, we have the early fall look. Here in southern California it’s actually really warm during back to school season from August – October. So, we picked out some styles that are sure to keep Stella comfortable and cute at the same time!

JCPenney was our go-to spot for these looks and we have a $100 JCPenney gift card giveaway today! Who doesn’t love free clothes?

What I Wore - "I love my Mom more than cupcakes" tank top and Sprinkle Toes lace up shoes.

Her shirt says, “I love my Mom more than cupcakes” and she picked it out herself. This shirt is so Stella! It’s probably her 5th or 6th cupcake shirt, which is why her eyes went straight for it at JCPenney. I love that this shirt was so affordable that I could get it for her! Stella spotted these shoes from a distance. They light up, sparkle, and are filled with girly flare. They are excellent for running and jumping, which I’m sure she’ll do a lot of in kindergarten this fall! Her shorts are lace accented denim with hidden adjustable buttons on the inside (which is great because I know they’ll fit longer!). JCPenney is known as the leading destination for denim. Kids grow so fast that finding the cutest, most stylish, yet affordable clothes is essential.

JCPenney was our go-to spot for her late-fall inspired look. The weather starts to cool off here in November, and I think this outfit will work fabulously through January. Since it doesn’t get too cold here in Orange County, just some light layers do the trick!

What I Wore

For Stella, it was allllll about the boots! I love that the styles at JCPenney are cool so that she can express her own lil’ style. Bye bye baby clothes (mom wipes tears from her eyes) and hello big girl clothes!

This flowy shirt actually came as a set with the matching leggings. We visited the store when this outfit was 1/2 off (score!). I think this look is a little bit sophisticated and a little bit casual. Stella could wear this to school and to brunch.

Not only did we get some cool back-to-school clothes, my kids spotted some awesome backpacks. They looked so cute walking around the store that I had to snap this picture:

Cool backpacks for kids!

I love Mitch’s “surf-scene” backpack. The style of it is spot on for where we live and I love that he picked that backpack out from all the choices they had. I know he’ll get a lot of use out of it!

On August 12, is National #ShoutOutDay where JCPenney is bending the trend of judgement to positive reinforcement. Shout out a compliment and make someone’s day! By giving each other compliments, we help others have a better day. Having a good day at school is something we all hope for our kids. Want to join in? Simply use #ShoutOutDay to jump in on the conversation!

  1. Great things come to mind when I hear back to school. Words like finally, ahhh, shopping! , spending time with each of my children one on one( it’s how we do it), learning what the new trends are, especially when it’s the same style that I myself sported. My son thought that Vans shoes eetr a new invention….lol. I guess maybe when the T.V.was first invented too. Running into new and old friends and fir me I love the hunt! Sales, BOGO, 50-70% off, and of course CLEARANCE!!! It’s a ritual we do every year and it’s always an event that is unique and new each and every time.
