Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Keyword: cake, red velvet

Equipment

  • Baking Dish
  • Toothpicks to test if the cake is cooked through
  • non-stick cooking spray
  • Wooden spoon or some sort of cooking utensil for poking holes
  • Electric Mixer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix. Usually requires: water, oil, and eggs
  • 2 tubs cream cheese frosting
  • White chocolate chips
  • Red sprinkles
  • Non-stick spray

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Prepare baking dish with non-stick spray
  • Bake red velvet cake
  • Let the cake cool. If it’s slightly warm, that’s ok.
  • Poke holes in the cake as seen in the pictures, with the end of a wooden spoon or similar kitchen utensil.
  • Heat 1 tub of cream cheese frosting at 15 second intervals until it is melted. Usually 2-3 intervals works.
  • Pour the melted cream cheese frosting over the red velvet cake poked with holes, allowing it to absorb into the cake and holes.
  • Let the melted frosting cool.
  • Frost the cake with the 2nd tub of frosting.
  • Add white chocolate chips and sprinkles on top! If you’re making it for Christmas, use additional green sprinkles. Making this for the 4th of July or Memorial Day? Add blue sprinkles!
