This DIY tutorial will show you how to make a large cloth kitchen bow out of a cloth placemat! It adds instant Christmas cheer to your oven handle.

Ingredients

  • 2 Rectangular cloth placemats
  • 1 Zip-tie or rubber band
  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Lay your first placemat flat on a table landscape orientation (just like it would be for setting a table).
  • Fold it in half two times, creating a long thin piece. Set it aside
  • Lay your second placement on a table in a portrait orientation (opposite of how it would be for setting a table).
  • Fold it in half two times, creating a thicker shorter piece

  • Cinch the middle of the second folded placemat together creating the shape of a bow
  • Secure the Center: Wrap a rubber band or zip-tie around the middle of the second placemat to hold the folds in place.

  • Cut off excess plastic if using a zip-tip
  • Assemble the Bow: Place the first placemat over the center of the second zip-tied placemat. Adjust the placemat so that it is evenly folded over the zip-tied placemat.

  • Place it Behind the Oven Handle: Slide the placemat bow behind your oven handle. Adjust and fluff until it sits perfectly in the center.
