Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American, Italian
Keyword: casserole, meatball
Equipment
8"x8" Casserole Dish
Baking sheet
Foil
Olive Oil (or non-stick spray)
Ingredients
12Italian style sausage meatballs (homemade, pre-made, or even frozen!)
24ouncejar of marinara sauce (or homemade)
8ouncebag of shredded mozzarella
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°
Prepare a baking sheet with foil and gently brush it with light coat of olive oil using a paper towel. The olive oil works better than non-stick cooking spray in preventing smoking at this high baking temperature.
Cook the meatballs for 15 minutes (if using frozen meatballs, refer to the suggested cooking time on the package)
Lower the oven temperature to 375°
Prepare the 8×8 with a light coat of olive oil just like you did the baking sheet
Pour 1/2 of the marinara sauce into the dish
Add the cooked meatballs
Pour the remaining marinara sauce evenly on top
Cover with all the mozzarella cheese
Bake the dish for 20 minutes, covered with foil
Remove the foil cover and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the cheese gets bubbly!
