Equipment

  • 8-inch square baking dish
  • Flat baking sheet
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Skillet
  • Small saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Pizza Cutter

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent dough sheets
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce or 1 teaspoon taco sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican-style cheese
  • Shredded lettuce for topping
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Unroll the crescent dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through and golden brown.
  • While the crust bakes, cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain the grease.
  • Place the cream cheese in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the taco seasoning and stir until melted, smooth, and spreadable.
  • Combine the sour cream and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  • Carefully transfer the baked crust from the square dish to a flat baking sheet. Leave the oven on.
  • Spread the taco-seasoned cream cheese over the crust.
  • Add the cooked ground beef and drizzle the sour cream mixture over the top.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the pizza.
  • Return the pizza to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Top with shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
  • Cut the taco pizza into squares and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ground turkey or chicken can replace the ground beef.
  • Use mild, medium, or hot taco seasoning to control the spice level.
  • Add lettuce and tomatoes after baking so they remain fresh.
  • For additional crunch, top the finished pizza with crushed tortilla chips or Doritos.
  • Double the recipe when serving more than four people.
