Saying YES in the New Year

Saying YES in the New Year

New Year’s resolutions are usually all about things we plan on saying NO to. For example: things you plan on giving up, or promising to not do anymore.

This year, I’m making YES resolutions instead. Why?
Because healthy indulgences are a must!

Things I'm saying YES to this year

New Year’s resolutions are fun to make but can be really hard to keep, especially if they’re focused on saying no to things. So, rather than vowing to not do something anymore, I think we should resolve to bettering ourselves. Here are 10 YES resolutions we can make this year (and here’s to you):

  1. Say Yes to Being Your Authentic YOU– Nobody is normal, so don’t worry about appearing “normal” to others. Surround yourself with people who believe in and encourage you. Spend less time with people who criticize you.
  2. Say Yes to Imperfection- You know what? If the occasion calls for it, you can have your cake and eat it too! Allow yourself to celebrate with your friends and family, allow yourself to relax or unwind, and allow yourself to have a treat. Temptation isn’t always a bad thing! There is so much fun to be had if you can celebrate imperfection!
  3. Say Yes to Optimism- Indulge in positive self-talk. Believe that your own actions will result in positive things and that you can expect more good things to happen in the future.
  4. Say Yes to Random Acts of Kindness- sometimes we feel shortchanged if we aren’t given credit or being paid for every little thing we do. Showing kindness to others, without the incentive or expectation of being recognized for it, can help you appreciate the blessings you already have in your life.
  5. Say Yes to Someone Who Tells You No- Indulge in your passions! Let your creativity fly! Don’t let others bring you down, especially if someone else makes you feel incapable of something you know you can accomplish.
  6. Say Yes to Gratitude- Embracing an attitude of gratitude will open your life up for many fabulous opportunities that you never even saw coming.
  7. Say Yes to Yourself- Know that it is ok to put yourself first. Let go of putting everyone else’s needs in front of your own.
  8. Say Yes to Trusting Your Instinct- Fear holds us back more than we might be aware of. Trust your intuition, trust your instincts, and trust your gut feeling. The more you listen to yourself, the more value you will begin hear in your own voice. It’s ok to be scared, but don’t let fear hold you back!
  9. Say Yes to Growth- Would you like to grow your resume? Indulge in extra college or career classes. Would you like to grow your business? Indulge in opportunities that make your business a priority. Would you like to grow spiritually? Indulge in books, groups, and gatherings that align with your spiritual path.
  10. Say Yes to Starting Over- Letting go of a goal isn’t always hard to do. But, starting over can be very tough! Figure out which habits you need to adjust in order to meet your goal and allow yourself to try again. You don’t have to be perfect, but you can try your hardest to be your best you!

  1. Yea! Say YES to functional is what I say. Several of these fall under that umbrella. While we can’t totally avoid dysfunction, we ourselves can be functional!

  2. I am saying YES to simplifying things and FOCUS.
    Great post!
