DIY suncatchers are easy to make, and this beautiful stained glass effect suncatcher craft will surely delight the entire neighborhood. Use this same technique to create suncatchers all year round for any occasion or holiday!

This DIY American Flag Suncatcher is perfect for all patriotic holidays, like July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Flag Day, etc. So beautiful!

Instructions:

  1. Small American Flag
  2. Rectangular cake box with clear plastic front – found in the cake entertaining aisle at Walmart or a craft store
  3. Red and blue permanent markers
  4. Hot glue
  5. Scissors
  6. Scotch tape
Supplies

Instructions:

Begin by cutting out the clear window from the rectangular cake box. Discard the leftover cardboard from the cake box. Tape the clear plastic to the American Flag into place. It’s ok if there is some overhang, the suncatcher will still look perfect in the end!

Using permanent markers, trace the red stripes and blue around the stars. There is no need to color in the white space because the sun will shine through clearly. You can, however, use a yellow marker to color in the stars if desired!

Once you are done coloring, remove the Scotch tape from the American flag. Then, pull the fabric flag off from the wooden stake. Using hot glue, attach the American flag suncatcher to the wooden stake. Take the suncatcher outside and let the sun shine through! It can be held in your hands or pressed into the grass to stand alone. Look at how beautiful it is!

  • Scotch tape

Instructions 

  • Cut out the clear window from the rectangular cake box. Discard the leftover cardboard from the cake box.
  • Tape the clear plastic to the American Flag into place behind the plastic
  • Trace the red stripes and blue around the stars using permanent markers
  • When you are done coloring, remove the Scotch tape from the American flag
  • Pull the fabric flag off from the wooden stake
  • Using hot glue, attach the American flag suncatcher to the wooden stake.
  • Take the suncatcher outside and let the sun shine through!
