Cheerio Bird Feeder
Written and photographed by Meredith of Wait ‘Till Your Father Gets Home
The days are getting warmer {finally} and for many of you, you’re about to have little ones around the house 24/7 once again with the school year coming to an end.
My advice?
Be prepared with tons of fun {and easy} summertime crafts and activities to keep those little hands busy! Why not make a few birds happy in the mean while? Kill two birds with one stone…
I LOVE this craft idea because it’s so super easy and inexpensive. I’m guessing, in fact, that you’ve already got everything you need to make a few with your little ones.
You’ll need:
circular cereal such as Cheerios or Fruit Loops
pipe cleaners
thin twine
scissors
a tree to hang your bird feeder
My little guy is 2 1/2 and he did the stringing part completely by himself. I didn’t even need to show him how to put the cereal onto the pipe cleaner. He was just eager to get started I suppose.
Once just about all of his pipe cleaner was covered, we connected either end and twisted them together, making a circle. I then cut a small piece of twine and tied it to the top of the circle, so we’d have a place to hang it in the tree outside.
Easiest craft ever, and it kept him occupied for almost an hour {assembling, snacking a little, and choosing a tree outside to hang our creations}.
I’m sure your little crafter will love this project as much as mine did!
Happy crafting!
