DIY Shaving Cream

DIY Shaving Cream

I have a little secret… I LOVE pretty DIY beauty products! I’ve made several sugar scrubs that I’ve shared with you and the other day I even taught you how to make a beautiful scrub with leftover rose petals. I’ve decided to be a little more candid with my love for DIY beauty products though. Girls will be girls and, as long as we feel pretty, we know that we look pretty too. Today’s tutorial is for ultimate bath time pampering! It’s beautiful, it smells divine, and it leaves your skin feeling lusciously soft. This shaving cream is like no other! I’m excited to teach you how to make my Ultra Moisturizing Whipped Shaving Cream

How to make your own Ultra Moisturizing Whipped Shaving Cream!

For this DIY Shaving Cream recipe, you will need:

  • 2/3 cup of Shea Butter (I buy mine HERE )
  • 2/3 cup of Coconut Oil (I buy THIS one)
  • 1/4 cup of Baby Oil. Yes, good old fashioned baby oil! (You can find it HERE)

Ingredients for making an Ultra Moisturizing Whipped Shaving Cream!

Shea butter contains collagen and allows your skin to have that young “bounce back” ability (which diminishes with aging). Coconut oil provides intense moisture to the skin, helps heal scaring, and has wonderful antioxidants. Baby oil is originally thought of as an oil that keeps infant skin moisturized. However, it is a beautifully smelling oil that can be used on adults too! It is very mild and contains very few chemicals. I tend to use it a lot on my dry skin. Plus, did you know that baby oil is a wonderful makeup remover too? <<says the girl that used to be a makeup artist!

Like most of my DIY beauty tutorials, it’s pretty much no-fail. I’m a busy mom of two toddlers, so I don’t have a ton of time (you can relate to that too?). Simply add the 3 ingredients to your kitchen mixer and whip them on medium speed for about 30 seconds. Once you see the mixture become fluffy, turn the mixer on high and whip the shaving cream until you reach the whipped consistency you desire. So easy!

I highly recommend using this particular shaving cream while you are bathing. Why? Well, all of the moisturizing oils might cause the floor to become slippery, and there’s no need for us pretty ladies to hurt ourselves, right? It’s much safer to use this luscious whipped shaving cream in a relaxing bath (and gives you the perfect excuse to take a relaxing lil’ bath more often!).

  3. Love the idea of this … but one question: Is it pretty much a make it and use it kind of thing? I can’t imagine it would stay good for any length of time. Right?

    • Great question! This recipe will work for several relaxing baths. The mixture will eventually turn into a froth from the original whipped texture (which means it will work the same but it will feel different out of the container). What I like to do is throw it back into the mixer and whip it up again! You could always try that too! XO

  4. What a wonderful idea! Gotta try this! Thanks!

  12. I already have the coconut oil and shea butter but no baby oil. Could I substitute another great moisturizing oil like graoeseed or sunflower which I already have on hand?

  13. Alos, if I wanted to make this for my hubby what is a good combo of good for the skin, yet more masculine essential oils?

  15. Would you say this is cheaper than using shaving cream from the store? 😮

    • Initially, the cost of the ingredients seem more pricey, but then it makes a lot and a little goes a long way. So, I personally do think it is cheaper than using shaving cream from the store (it’s more decadent too!).

  16. Best DIY idea if you are into wet shaving using electric shaver!
