One of my most favorite trends in kitchen decorating is using cutting boards! Decorating with wood cutting boards of all different shapes and sizes adds a natural and welcoming warmth to the area.

We just renovated our kitchen and I decided to use stacked bread boards, cheeseboards, and cutting boards as part of our backslash decor. The extra tall cutting board is actually significant in size but exactly what we needed to fill the large space.

The marble board is actually a cheese board. You can stick it in the refrigerator for an hour to make it cold, then serve cheese and fruit on it.

Cutting boards are not being tucked away in the pantry, they’re out on display for all the world to see.

I absolutely LOVE the real edge on this wood cutting board. The rustic-styled cutting board has an exposed woodgrain surface. Style and function all in one! Keep it handy on the countertop for mincing herbs, chopping peak-of-season tomatoes, or use it as a tabletop or buffet trivet.

The round wood cutting board has convenient handles and stacks perfectly behind, but what you can’t see, is that this particular board covers a big electrical outlet! While the outlet is necessary, it is ugly. These natural wood cutting boards have so many purposes in our kitchen!

When shopping for cutting boards, look for hardwoods like maple, walnut, cherry, teak and bamboo.  These are the most durable and will age gorgeously.

If you looking for something new to collect, culinary-wise, cutting boards are a practical choice. And it’s a no-brainer to see that natural wood is the perfect accompaniment to a white and gray kitchen.

Cutting boards are a perfect functional accessory. Marble, granite, slate or other natural stone are great for serving cheese.

Look for a variety of shapes and species if displaying multiple boards. Rectangular bread boards are easy to find and inexpensive. I think the round boards just look amazing:)

Here are some other decorations I’ve recently put in our new kitchen…

One of my biggest goals is to keep fresh flowers throughout the kitchen. I just love the pop of color they provide (and how good they smell!).

…and while this pumpkin and the succulents aren’t real, I just had to start decorating for fall the moment September hit.
