Baby Rose Sugar Scrub
Have you ever received roses that were stunningly gorgeous, only to be sad when they age? Well, I found the perfect solution to making our favorite rose bouquet last a little longer! With just a few simple and inexpensive ingredients, a food processor, a pretty jar, and a few rose petals, you can make a beautiful DIY gift for yourself or for somebody you love!
For this DIY sugar scrub recipe, you will need:
- 1.5 cups of plain white sugar
- 1/4 cup of baby oil
- 12 rose petals (that haven’t been treated with chemicals)
- a food processor
- a pretty jar
Here’s how this magical little rose scrub comes together:
My food processor is not a fancy machine! In fact, it’s a mini food processor. So, if you don’t have a big old food processor, have no fear! Be creative- try a blender or try mixing it by hand! This is a no fail sugar scrub recipe. I prefer my scrubs to be fluffy. If you prefer a smoother sugar scrub, simply add more baby oil.
The sugar fluffs it up, the oil smooths it out.
Aside from being gorgeous, roses are *thought* to contribute to our well being.
Roses are my very favorite flowers: red, white, pink- I love them all.
Don’t you think this Baby Rose Sugar Scrub would be a beautiful gift? Me too!
I made this scrub with the leftover rose petals from a bouquet of roses I received for Valentine’s Day. I LOVE that I’ve made a pretty bouquet of roses last so much longer!

I love it..may I ask how long can they last?
I would definitely use it fresh within a couple of weeks:)
I’m looking forward to making is with my daycAre kids for Mothers Day. Also, great song by Jewel :). Thanks for sharing!
How much does this make? I’m hoping to make this and put them in little mason jars for teacher appreciation week next week with petals from our rose bushes.
This recipe makes a little more than you can see in the picture. But, it’s SO easy that you can make a much larger batch (or make smaller batches over and over) in no time at all! Have fun and what a thoughtful teacher gift. I know they will LOVE it!
Can you use any flower? I have tulips that are almost done
Love this! Just wanted to let you know that I included it in a recent post on my blog, Lela + Lace 🙂 Thank you!

This is such a fantastic idea! I loved it, so I tried it (with a few minor tweaks here and there based on what was in my cabinet) and wrote about it here: https://meghanblisswrites.wordpress.com/2014/03/13/diy-coffee-rose-sugar-scrub/

Can you use other flower petals, not just roses?

I have just retrieved my valentine roses from the bin to do this. It is just perfection. Thank you
Do you think it would work with shea baby oil?
Ohhhh I wish I had some to try! YES- I’m sure you could get that to work:) Alter the recipe if needed and let me know! XO
Does the color hold true? What is the shelf life? Thank you.
Yes! Great question:) I would use it “fresh” within the first few weeks.
I can’t wait to try this with my roses. Does anyone know how long this will last in a sealed container? I thought I might make several batches at once, since i don’t get roses that often 🙂
Great idea! You could always dry out your rose petals now and then mix them into the sugar/oil mixture when you’re ready! Try things out and decide what works best for you! You will love it though:) XO
So someone mentioned that rose petals will go bad after so long, have any thoughts? I used coconut oil, instead of baby oil and love it so far, just not sure how long it will stay good for?
Isn’t it just an amazing DIY scrub? I would use it “fresh” within a few weeks:)
If you add a bit of vitamin E it will last longer and will help emulsify the roses which intensifies the scent ever so slightly.
Thanks, I’m definitely making this scrub for myself very soon! Can’t wait to try it!
The rose petals are (relatively) fresh vs. dry, correct?
Correct! They are fresh:)
I love, love, love this recipe! I would recommend putting the oil in first, then the rose petals. Blend the two together and then add the sugar and blend.
Thanks for sharing, this one is a great gift for someone!
