Summer is here, and we are finally out and about again! And so are the bugs! We recently shared our supper yummy drink recipe, and while enjoying one while in our backyard, a little bug dropped into my drink. That’s when I realized it’s a great time to make adorable Cupcake Liner Drink Covers to prevent bugs from enjoying my pretty drinks! Not only practical, but this tip is also a fun way to brighten up the table!

Outdoor dining and entertaining can be so much fun during the warmer months, but those pesky, flying insects often get in the way of a good time. Keep your sugary drinks and cocktails bug-free this year when you use this simple trick!

You can use a variety of supplies depending on the size of the cups you plan to use, the type of drink served, and the age of the guests being served. Today, I made a drink for adults, which does not require a straw. So, I used a festive cupcake topper and smaller-sized cupcake liners in coordinating colors.

Keep in mind that it is SO FUN to coordinate colors with the baking cups you pick! Red, white, and blue would be so cute all summer long! Make a theme and have fun with it! You can use larger muffin liner cups for larger cups to even coffee filters for something like a margarita glass. Start by poking a hole in the center of the cupcake liner. It’s SO easy to do with a toothpick. Place the baking liner topper through the hole and then use a little bit of hot glue to secure the pick in place. I put the glue on the inside (or underneath) part of the liner. This part is optional, of course! But, it’s nice to have everything secure for the drink lid. One reader suggested taping a penny underneath the cupcake liner to prevent the wind from blowing it away. I just love how smart you guys are!

If you’re serving drinks to kids or a cocktail that needs a straw, replace the cupcake topper with a straw in the middle! SO CUTE! We hope you, your family, and your friends are able to make up for lost time together and have a wonderful summer!
