Summer is here and we are all spending countless hours outside, under the sun, enjoying the long days and warm nights. Along with that inevitably comes a sunburn! When sunburn happens, relief is necessary to seek out after bathing the skin. Today I’m sharing my “Miracle” Sunburn Soother that helps nourish, calm, cool, and protect sunburned skin. It smells wonderful, is so simple to make, and helps prevent peeling when used regularly.

Depending on the weather, shea butter and coconut oil are usually in a solid form. If it’s extremely hot, then place both ingredients in the refrigerator until they are more solid. Simply add the 4 ingredients together and store them in a little container if you have extra. The warmer the weather, the creamier it will be. You could also warm it up for a couple of seconds in the microwave if they aren’t blending as they should.

Apply the Sunburn Soother to dry clean skin. Let it absorb before putting too many layers of clothing over it, if possible. After a couple of days of healing, try placing the sunburn soother in the refrigerator before using it! It will cause the cream to harden a bit, but feels SO refreshing on sun-kissed skin!

The Jojoba Oil is optional because the Sunburn Soother will work just as well without it and Jojoba oil is a bit harder to find. However, if you are like me and always have some on hand because it is so wonderful for beauty purposes, then you’ll love the extra layer of moisturized protection that the jojoba oil creates. While it appears oily, it’s actually a wax that helps to seal and protect the skin.

Coconut oil is also very moisturizing and healing while shea butter is commonly used for dry, chapped, or cracked skin. When combined with Aloe, your burn will feel a little better and your skin will have a harder time peeling because you’ll be keeping it so moisturized!
