Chocolate Covered Strawberries in an Ice Cube Tray
Chocolate covered strawberries are fabulous any time of year. Is it cold and wintery outside? Have a chocolate covered strawberry by the fire! Celebrating fireworks during the summer? Don’t forget the chocolate covered strawberries!
Whether it’s a birthday or Valentine’s Day, strawberries and chocolate always fit the bill!
Now, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but buying pre-made chocolate covered strawberries can be VERY pricey! Everybody loves them and they’re very special, that’s why.
After today you will never look at chocolate covered strawberries the same way again. They don’t have to be fancy and perfect. In fact, the more imperfectly perfect they are… the better!
This recipe makes 16 chocolate covered strawberries for less than $5. So smart!

I know that you can melt chocolate the fancy way, but my favoirte way is to use these Dove chocolates. I don’t know how I found out that they melt so easily, but at some point in time I discovered that they do and it’s changed the way I melt chocolate. Using a plastic or microwave safe container and Dove chocolate, you can make the BEST melted chocolate ever! Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, whatever you prefer.
I got this bag in the candy isle at Walmart for about $3.50. For this recipe, you will need the entire bag.
Watch how they are made!

You Will Need
Supplies Needed
- Microwave safe bowl
- Spoon
- Ice cube tray
Ingredients
- Strawberries
- 1 bag of Dove chocolates (or any kind of chocolate you like!)
Directions
- Cut the strawberries into pieces that will fit into an ice cube tray
- Fill each slot of the ice cube tray with a strawberry or a slice of strawberry
- Melt the chocolate. For us, we melted 1/2 the bag at a time in a microwave safe bow in 30 second intervals
- Pour the melted chocolate over the ice cube tray
- Gently tap the ice cube tray on the counter to “settle” the chocolate over the strawberries
- Refrigerate for 1 hour
- Remove from the refrigerator and crack the tray, bending it side to side in opposite directions, just as you would regular ice cubes
- Pull the chocolate covered strawberries out from the ice cube tray (or gently dump them out)
- Enjoy!
