Turkey and Cheese Biscuits

Today we had a bunch of neighborhood kids at our house just hanging out (because that’s what summers are for!). When lunchtime came around, I could tell that they would either start filling up on random snacks from the pantry, or I could fix up something warm and irresistible. Since school just got out, they are TIRED of cold sandwiches. Something warm and made by mom or dad is exactly what my kids are craving these days. If you’ve got some hungry mouths to feed, this is a crowd-pleaser anytime of year and anytime of the day. Make it a breakfast, a snack, or add some fruit to the side for lunch or dinner. You can’t go wrong with turkey and cheese biscuits!

Problem is… I’m still tired of prepping lunches! So, I didn’t want to make their usual lunch either! I know they would complain and I’m positive we’d have more wasted food. When I make turkey and cheese biscuits, there are NEVER any  leftovers! No wasted food, no complaining, no tired and hungry kids. That’s how I like it in my house!

Back when I was a kid, I remember hearing my mom talk about how feeding kiddos made her happy. She LOVED making food that kids enjoyed and, while I did’t understand it then, I totally get it now. Fueling kids up so they can get through their day truly is a great feeling (especially when they crave what you make!).

To make turkey and cheese biscuits, you’ll need a can of flakey Pillsbury biscuits. Why? Because they’re so easy to pull apart! One half is the top of the sandwich and one half is the bottom. One thing I do recommend is eating them straight out of the oven. Ok, ok, ok, you can let them cool for a minute but they are best straight out of the oven.

Your house will smell like biscuits, you’ll have melty cheese, warm turkey… oh man! These are the BEST! Did I mention that you could eat them for breakfast too? Oh yes! Who are we to judge? Can you imagine waking up to the smell of fresh biscuits in the morning? I certainly can!

  4. Place them on the baking sheet

  7. Place more cheese on top of the turkey slice. I also used 1/2 slice of cheese on top
  8. Separate the remaining 4 flakey biscuits in halves.
  9. Place those biscuit halves on top of the turkey and cheese, completing your biscuits!
  10. Bake for 19 minutes or until golden.
