  2. Borax
  3. Zote laundry bar

Instructions:

Begin by grating the yummy-smelling laundry bar. I have an inexpensive hand grater that I use exclusively for making laundry soap (and not food ha!).

Pour the grated soap into a mixing bowl. Add in the washing soda, Borad, and optional fragrance booster beads. Stir until combined.

This recipe will make exactly the amount you see in the pictures (about 3.5 cups or about 60 loads of laundry). I like to make small batches since we don’t have a gigantic laundry room. This is just enough for us to use for a little while, and then I quickly make more when we’re out.

How to Use the Detergent

Use 1 tablespoon for an average-size load of laundry. Add more for larger loads.

This DIY laundry soap is safe for HE washers. Add the soap directly to the washer drum (not the soap dispenser).

3-ingredient homemade laundry detergent recipe! HE washer safe.

Supplies

  • Hand grater
  • Mixing bowl and spoon
  • Container for storage and a scoop

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Super Washing Soda
  • 1 cup Borax
  • 2 cups grated Zote laundry bar
  • ¾ cups laundry fragrance beads (optional)

Instructions 

  • Grate 2 cups of the laundry bar (about 1/2 of the bar). Place the grated soap bar into a mixing bowl
  • Add the washing soda, Borax, and optional fragrance beads
  • Gently mix until fully combined
  • Pour the mixture into a storage container with a small scooping spoon or measuring spoon
  • Add 1 tablespoon to a regular-size load. Add more to a larger load.
