3-ingredient Homemade Laundry Detergent that will save you money! With this recipe, each load of laundry will cost about 20¢ or 15¢ if you don’t want to use fragrance beads. I love doing things the old-school way sometimes!

Pin It NowIngredients:
- Super Washing Soda
- Borax
- Zote laundry bar
- Laundry fragrance beads (optional)
Where to Find These Supplies:
The ingredients can be found in the laundry aisle. Super Washing Soda is a natural detergent booster and freshener, making this DIY laundry detergent essential!
Instructions:
Begin by grating the yummy-smelling laundry bar. I have an inexpensive hand grater that I use exclusively for making laundry soap (and not food ha!).
Pour the grated soap into a mixing bowl. Add in the washing soda, Borad, and optional fragrance booster beads. Stir until combined.
This recipe will make exactly the amount you see in the pictures (about 3.5 cups or about 60 loads of laundry). I like to make small batches since we don’t have a gigantic laundry room. This is just enough for us to use for a little while, and then I quickly make more when we’re out.
How to Use the Detergent
Use 1 tablespoon for an average-size load of laundry. Add more for larger loads.
This DIY laundry soap is safe for HE washers. Add the soap directly to the washer drum (not the soap dispenser).
