Supplies:

  1. Candy canes
  2. Baking sheet
  3. Parchment paper
Ingredients

Instructions:

Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Parchment paper is important for this project because it prevents the candy from sticking to the baking sheet when they are in the oven.

Layer 2 candy canes in the shape of a bow

Layer two mini candy canes in the shape of a bow. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 10 minutes.

Full instructions are in a printable and interactive card at the end of this post!

Melting candy canes to make bows

While the candy canes are slowly softening in the oven, break apart some mini candy canes. As seen in the video, the hook part of the candy cane can be used for the larger bows, while the sticks can be used for the smaller bows.

Broken candy canes

Remove the candy canes from the oven and gently push and press them into the shape of a bow. Place the broken candy cane pieces in the center of the bow (to look like they’re tied).

Bend the candy canes to look like bows

Don’t worry if they don’t look perfect or move when you are assembling them. They will soften up in the oven and will become pliable for shaping. Return the baking sheet to the oven for another 10 minutes.

Once they are done, push the center “knot” together to create your bow. Not all bows look alike so have fun and be creative!

Tip

If the candy canes cool and harden before you’re done shaping and assembling them, simply put them back into the oven in 10-minute intervals until you achieve your desired bows!

Notes

Note: the larger size bows are much more fragile than the smaller-shaped bows. Be extra cautions when touching/moving the larger bows.
If a bow breaks, consider returning it to the oven and molding it back in place.
