Dish Soap Silly Putty
Do you ever start a craft and end up messing everything up? Well, our day pretty much started like that. But, I was determined to get something right. After a few trials of mixing ingredients that don’t like each other, we made some dish soap silly putty! Well, it didn’t start out as dish soap silly putty…. it actually started out as more of a mess (I tried to use flour first….don’t ask……it was ugly!). None the less we ended up with THEE easiest silly putty recipe that my kids can’t get enough of! You only need 2 ingredients and you most likely have both in your kitchen already.
For this kid friendly craft, you will need:
Dish soap and
You already have both of those things, don’t you? Well, then you’re good to go!
In a mixing bowl, combine:
2 tablespoons of corn starch with
1.5 tablespoons of dish soap
Mix the two ingredients together as best as you can for about 10 seconds. Then, you’ll need to get your hands in the silly putty to mix the rest! After a moment, you’ll see the putty start to come together.
Whisper voice: soooooo easy!!!!
The silly putty will hold a shape if you’re constantly moving it. But, if you let it rest, it will drip and fall like molasses (so FUN!).
Since this dish soap takes about 2 minutes to make, it doesn’t necessarily last very long. Meaning, you won’t need to store it in a container. Simply play with it for awhile and clean up the silly putty when you’re done (you’ll notice some drying of the ingredients, which is typical of handmade stuff, but a little soap and water will wipe it right up!).
Be sure to share this quick and easy craft with your kid-friendly craft loving group of friends! I think it is best suited for kids ages 4+
