Cleaning isn’t necessarily fun. But, I think it can be more enjoyable if you manage to make it a pleasant experience! My homemade cleaner is something that I actually love to clean with. This particular tub and tile cleaner that I’m sharing with you smells like vanilla. I, know, amazing right? Obviously it’s not something you would ever consume, but a beautifully fresh, clean, and sparkling bathroom that smells like vanilla is unbeatable (and so pretty!). It is very inexpensive and only has a couple easy to find ingredients. Plus, I’m giving you the cute heart label so your tub and tile homemade cleaner can look just like mine…

Homemade Tub and Tile Cleaner

This tub and tile cleaner is pretty straight forward. It cleans bathtubs, sinks, shower walls, tile, grout, and even toilets! In fact, you can use it in your kitchen too! The ingredients will deodorize, but the vanilla scent will stick around so that you’re left with an incredible clean vanilla scented area! It’s the best….let me just say. There’s no need to have a room smell like chemicals, right?

For this homemade cleaner you will need:

  • Borax (found in the laundry isle or buy it online here)
  • Baking Soda
  • Fragrance free dish soap (I think this one is great)
  • Body Safe Vanilla fragrance oil (it’s so affordable and I buy mine here)
  • Glass jar (something like these)

Just like any household cleaning products (or chemicals in general) this is not for your kiddos. But, I think that moms deserve a fun and smart way to clean. I love pretty things, don’t you? So, just be aware that this is not to be handled by children and that you need to treat it just like any other cleaning product in your house. Keep them up high and out of a child’s reach. They will love how pretty everything smells once you’re done though! Just like fresh baked cookies (moms will get major points for that!). It’s also recommended that you protect your hands with cleaning gloves when using this tub and tile cleaner. You know the drill when it comes to cleaning….always play it safe and make smart decisions!

I recommend using warm water with this homemade tub and tile cleaner. The Borax is actually very safe for cleaning things like tubs and tile. The baking soda is a natural cleaner that, when combined with Borax, creates a deodorizing and cleaning machine! You can even let it sit on tough-to-clean areas which will help it remove harder messes. The dish soap bubbles up (love bubbles when I’m cleaning) and it works to de-grease while gently cleaning. Simple scrub and rise off with water!

I store my tub and tile cleaner in a small jar. This is the label that I use so feel free to use it on your jars too! Simply click on the image below, drag it to your desktop, open the image up and then hit “file” and “print”. Some resizing might need to happen depending on the size of the jar you are using.

  1. Can’t wait to try your cleaner, Kelly! I hate cleaning the tub because of the chemical flumes. The vanilla scent sounds amazing. Thanks for the super cute heart label too! Pinned.

  2. Smell is the major issue with home cleaning products. But this is definitely worth a try and as you mentioned it smells like a vanilla which is great thing.
