It has REAL cookie dough chunks. Yes, REAL cookie dough chunks mixed into it. This recipe is for those of you that only eat cookie dough ice cream in order to pick out the chunks of cookie dough.

Cookie Dough Is Edible!

Cookie Dough Ice Cream Using Edible Cookie Dough

Did you know that this well known tube of pre-made cookie dough by Pillsbury is now safe to eat raw? Raw eggs can be risky so you definitely don’t want to use raw dough to make this ice cream. All of those rumors about getting sick from eating raw cookie dough are a thing of the past.

MIND BLOWN! Our world has changed! You will not get sick from eating this type of cookie dough raw anymore. I almost want it to be cookie dough with a side of ice cream.

The thing I really love about this recipe is that it stays creamy. There’s no need to warm up the ice cream scoop, or let the ice cream sit out on the counter to warm up enough for you to scoop. If you don’t have an ice cream maker or Kitchen Aid, you can still make this recipe! Simply follow the directions on the back of the Junket ice cream box

However, I highly recommend getting an ice cream bowl for your Kitchen Aid if you have one. It is worth every penny!! Find it HERE and enjoy making any kind of ice cream your heart desires:)

How to Make Cookie Dough Ice Cream

You Will Need

  • 3/4 tube of Pillsbury cookie dough – it’s TOTALLY safe to eat raw or bake. Best of both worlds!
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup of milk (whole, skim, lactose free, whatever you prefer)
  • 1 box of Junket ice cream mix (found in the baking aisle or near the Jello in any grocery store)

Other Supplied Needed:

  • Freezer friendly container for storage
  • Parchment paper or something to place ice cream cookie dough balls (I use parchment paper and a metal cookie sheet)
    • You can freeze the cookie dough balls in advance and store them in a ziplock bag if needed
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Spoon
  • Ice cream scoop

*NOTE – if you don’t have an ice cream maker or Kitchen Aid, you can still make this recipe! Simply follow the directions on the back of the Junket ice cream box

However, I highly recommend getting an ice cream bowl for your Kitchen Aid if you have one. It is worth every penny!! Find it HERE and enjoy making any kind of ice cream your heart desires:)

Directions

  1. Roll the cookie dough into about 45 small cookie dough balls. You can add more or less depending on preference. We use about 1 1/2 cups of frozen cookie dough balls
  2. Place the cookie dough balls in the freezer for at least an hour – parchment paper and a baking sheet makes this step very easy
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the Junket ice cream mix, heavy whipping cream, and milk until the powder is dissolved
  4. Place the milk mixture in your ice cream maker and mix on low for about 20 minutes or so, depending on your ice cream maker
  5. Add in the frozen cookie dough balls and gently fold them in
  6. Place the ice cream in a freezer safe container – or eat it right away! The longer it stays in the refrigerator, the harder it will get. It’s delicious either way!
