Ingredients:
- Banana – ripe bananas make a thick, creamy dessert without any eggs or cream! Frozen bananas will work as well. They’re always fresh!
- Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt has less lactose and may be more easily digested than plain. Non-dairy yogurt or plain yogurt will work too (unsweetened regular).
- Organic peanut butter – Be sure that your peanut butter doesn’t include any artificial sweeteners like xylitol, which is toxic for dogs. Pick a creamy peanut butter that is xylitol-free. At the grocery store, this is usually “natural peanut butter” or “organic peanut butter” but double-check the ingredients list be sure.
- Milk-Bone dog treats – or any treat of choice to use for the stick. You can swap this with any other treat your furry friends like.

Optional Ingredients:
Tailor the flavor of this easy recipe for dog ice cream by including any extra ingredients you puppy enjoys. Consider some of the following taste and flavor combinations:
- Bacon or bacon bits
- Berries
- Pure pumpkin puree
- Oats
- Honey
- Blueberries
- Watermelon
- Coconut milk
Instructions:
Place the banana, yogurt, and peanut butter into the blender.

Blend the ice cream mixture for about a minute or until it is creamy and smooth!
How to Make Ice Cream for Dogs

Recipe Tip
If you don’t have extra ice cube trays or freezer molds, place the blended ice cream into a freezer-safe container. Then, you can scoop and serve it into their dog bowl! Your pup will go crazy over getting a bowl of ice cream.
Spoon the blended mixture into the trays. Be sure to not overflow the trays because you’ll need a little extra space for the dog bone treat.

Stick the dog bone treats into the ice cube trays. Place the trays in the freezer for about 2-3 hours. If you have kids in the house, they are really good at this job!

Recipe Tip
About 30 minutes into freezing, check to make sure all of the dog bones are still standing up straight. You can adjust them at this point to be straight again if they’ve tipped a little bit.

Cut the Recipe in Half
We have 2 golden retrievers so they can gobble up these treats quickly. For smaller dogs or if you have 1 dog, consider cutting the recipe in half:
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 cup of organic peanut butter
- 16 ounces of plain Greek yogurt

This recipe looks great. I’m going to try it for my dog this weekend. I’ve made something like this before, but I like the idea of using the dog biscuit as a stick. Sometimes I also get ready-made dog ice cream from Frostreats. They use simple ingredients like yogurt, banana, and peanut butter, and my dog really likes it. But making it at home is a nice idea too. Thanks for sharing.
I recently made these for my 3 “grand-doggies” while their visit. they absolutely loved them. I put in bacon pieces and some pumpkin. All I had to do was give the command “form up” (they line up and sit) until I give the special treat. I think I spoil them 🙂
