I always recommend letting your dog sample a small amount before giving them lots of treats because dogs can be allergic to anything, just like people! Nothing beats homemade recipes and I know exactly what’s going into our dog’s treats instead of all those suspicious ingredients.

Ingredients
- Organic Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is actually a healthy food for dogs, containing vitamins and healthy fats. Quite a few peanut butter contain xylitol as a sugar substitute. It’s perfectly fine for human consumption, but it can be harmful to dogs!
- Skim Milk
- Baking Powder
- Whole Wheat Flour – Some dogs are allergic to gluten in regular flour. Whole wheat flour can have some more nutrients which are always great. If you don’t have whole wheat flour you can substitute all-purpose flour instead.
In one bowl, mix the “dry ingredients” (baking powder and flour). In a separate bowl, mix the “wet ingredients” (peanut butter and milk). Mix the peanut butter and milk together until it is creamy and smooth. Next, add the bowl of dry ingredients to the peanut butter mixture.
It helps to do this in small amounts. Because these dog biscuits come out a bit crunchy, the dough will be drier than, let’s say, your favorite cookie dough. It doesn’t contain butter, egg, or anything else that a softer dough contains.
Next roll the dough out onto wax paper, parchment paper, or a hard surface. It helps to add a little extra flour to the rolling pin. If the dough feels a bit dry, press it down with your fingertips for a little bit. This helps warm up the peanut butter and allows the dog treat dough to move more easily:)

Place the dog treat dough on a baking sheet topped with parchment paper. The parchment paper prevents sticking, and I think it helps when baking anything on a cookie sheet! Much like your own favorite cookies, you’ll bake these for about 15 minutes. Just be sure to adjust baking time as needed – the longer they bake, the crunchier they are so it’s really up to your pups’ preferences.

- Freezer – When stored in a resealable freezer bag, your treats will last 3 months. Allow time for them to thaw
- Refrigerator – Your dog treats will keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. Store in an airtight container or freezer bag for best results
Homemade dog treats are free of all the preservatives you find in store-bought dog treats. That means their shelf-life is shorter than typical treats. By storing them in the refrigerator or freezer instead of at room temperature, you can extend their shelf life.
