Supplies

Instructions:

Begin by painting your basket orange. This can be done with acrylic paint or spray paint. You can use any size basket you have on hand or find. If you have a larger basket, spray paint is a great option!

Next, cut the stems down to size. You can use dried wheat stems (found at a craft store) or even sticks. Whatever resembles a pumpkin’s stem works, so be creative! The stem needs to be just a little taller than the flowers of your potted plant.

Dried wheat stems

Using ribbon, tie the stems or stick to the wooden dowel. The dowel is what is going to stick into the soil, so have the dowel sticking out a couple extra inches below the stems.

Stick the dowel down into the soil and adjust the ribbon so that it rests just above or around the flower’s height.

Pumpkin face with black foam

Get creative and cut out your favorite jack-o-lantern face out of black craft foam. Using hot glue, adhere the jack-o-lantern face to the pumpkin planter.

Using soft white and/or orange string lights, wrap the stem and flowers in lights. When the sun begins to set, turn the lights on and enjoy your DIY Halloween Pumpkin Planter!
